Friuli Venezia Giulia Governor Massimiliano Fedriga will attend the inaugural session of the 8th term of the European Committee of the Regions, taking place today and tomorrow in Brussels. This event marks the official establishment of the new Committee and provides a platform for discussions between European institutions and local and regional authorities.
The plenary session will open with the official installation of the European Committee of the Regions and the inauguration ceremony of the new legislative term. In the afternoon, Fedriga will take part in a debate with European Council President António Costa. Later, the Italian delegation within the Committee will meet to discuss key institutional matters and strategic issues related to Italy's representation in the EU body.
On February 20, the program includes the election of the Bureau members, as well as the selection of the Committee's president and first vice president. Fedriga will also join a discussion with European Commission Executive Vice President for Cohesion and Reforms, Raffaele Fitto, focusing on the role of local and regional authorities in cohesion policy.
