On the occasion of the Eighth Day of Italian Research in the World, a roundtable co-organized by the Italian Embassy in Tashkent and the Uzbek Ministry of Higher Education and Research was held at the National University of Samarkand. The theme of the event was "Uzbekistan and Italy: New Horizons for Scientific Cooperation." The event was chaired by Kongratbay Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, and Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini, the Italian Ambassador, alongside the rectors of 17 Uzbek universities and seven Italian universities: University for Foreigners of Perugia, University of Tuscia, Roma Tre University, University of Pisa, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, University of Trento, and Polytechnic University of Turin.

The roundtable also featured remarks from Alisher Shukurov, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, who emphasized the importance of knowledge and skill transfer in the agri-tech sector and in the training of local technicians, an area in which Italian universities were highlighted as partners of excellence. Cooperation agreements were signed between the University of Pisa and the Samarkand Medical University for joint initiatives in medical training and scientific research. An agreement was also made between the University of Tuscia and the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan to provide scholarships for Uzbek students. Additional agreements were signed between Roma Tre University and the University of Law of Tashkent for research and exchange projects in legal and social sciences, and between Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the Samarkand Chemical-Technological Institute for cooperation in the chemical and environmental sectors.
