From Monday to Friday, BigItalyFocus provides an information overview, ranged from development aid to made in Italy
Montreal – Entitled “The Shape of Air”, the solo exhibition by Luca Spano is the winner of the 2024 call for the promotion of Italian photography abroad, launched by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. This original curatorial project brings art and science into dialogue, exploring non-optical images – those visual processes that enable the human brain to create mental images through all the senses except sight. The exhibition will run until 25 October at the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal. The display consists of photographs created in the darkroom by the artist and objects ranging from evocative semi-abstract forms to reinterpretations of conversations held within the BRaIN programme of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. Metallic inserts also contribute to the materiality of the installation, experimenting with the interplay between image, text and surface. The exhibition investigates how images are generated in the human brain, questioning the viewer on their possible forms and linking back to logos as a further central element in the construction of processes of knowledge of reality.
