Geneva – Following its success at the Premio Città di Cattolica, the biography “A modo mio… Basta un attimo” by Giancarlo Colaprete, dedicated to Andrea Lo Vecchio, has now made its mark in Switzerland. On Saturday, October 4, the book received the Special Geneva Prize in the “Published Non-Fiction” category at the Switzerland Literary Prize in Lugano, organized by the Pegasus Cultural Association.
The award was accepted by Liliana Lo Vecchio, the artist’s sister, who moved the audience with personal memories, recalling Andrea’s early days in Milan alongside rising Italian music stars such as Dori Ghezzi, Bobby Solo, Betty Curtis, and Roberto Vecchioni.
The recognition honors Andrea Lo Vecchio’s remarkable career, with hits including Luci a San Siro, Rumore, A modo mio, Donna Felicità, Help Me, and La porta socchiusa. The award also highlights a symbolic connection with Lugano, chosen by Mina, who performed 19 songs written by Lo Vecchio, including E poi… at her final public concert in 1978.
With nearly 900 songs to his name and over 90 million records sold, Lo Vecchio leaves an immense musical legacy, having collaborated with legends such as Raffaella Carrà, Ornella Vanoni, Caterina Caselli, Charles Aznavour, Shirley Bassey, Domenico Modugno, and Roberto Vecchioni. He also made significant contributions to children’s entertainment and television, including work for the Sanremo Festival 2010.
