Italy continues military training and cooperation mission in Niger

Niamey – Throughout 2025, the Bilateral Support Mission in Niger (MISIN) continued its cooperation and training activities in support of the Nigerien Armed Forces, within the framework of bilateral collaboration between Italy and Niger and in coordination with local authorities.
During the year, the mission’s Mobile Training Teams conducted training programmes in airborne operations, riverine operations and the development of tactical and logistical capabilities, helping to strengthen the operational skills of the units involved. Training activities were also supported by the Special Operations Task Group “Victor”, which delivered specialised courses for Nigerien Special Forces.
At the same time, civil-military cooperation units, operating within the Multinational CIMIC Group, maintained constant dialogue with local institutions and communities, carrying out targeted initiatives to support the population and address local needs.
The development of the CEMEDAN project – the Aeronautical Medicine Centre built by the MISIN Engineering Task Group – also continued. The centre will provide medical and specialist support for aviation activities, contributing to flight safety and to the training of local personnel in aeronautical medicine.
With the start of 2026, MISIN will continue its support and training activities for the Nigerien Armed Forces, in line with the ongoing bilateral cooperation framework.
