Hamburg – On the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Giuseppe Piccioni’s film The Shadow of the Day will be screened on 27 January at 7 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Institutes in Hamburg and Munich. The film will be shown in the original language with English subtitles.
Starring Riccardo Scamarcio, Benedetta Porcaroli, Valeria Bilello, Lino Musella and Vincenzo Nemolato, the story is set in a provincial town in central Italy at the end of the 1930s. Luciano, the owner of a restaurant and a supporter of the Fascist regime like most Italians of the time, believes he can live according to his own rules, detached from the outside world. His routine is disrupted by the arrival of Anna, a young woman carrying a secret who is hired at the restaurant. From that moment on, Luciano’s life begins to change, as he is confronted not only with growing dangers, but also with love.
