Brussels – A highly topical issue - the EU–Mercosur agreement - will be at the centre of a meeting organised in Brussels on 27 January entitled “Mercosur: Myths, Realities and Italian Perspectives.”
After more than twenty years of negotiations, the trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur countries – Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay – has reached a decisive turning point. With the political approval achieved in early 2026, a new phase opens for transatlantic relations: a market of more than 700 million consumers is set to become integrated, offering unprecedented opportunities for Italian companies.
To discuss these developments and help Italian businesses prepare for the new scenario, ICE Brussels invites companies and stakeholders to take part in the event, which will take place at Place de la Liberté 12 or online via the “ICE Ascolta l’Europa” platform.
Speakers will include Leopoldo Rubinacci, Deputy Director-General of DG TRADE at the European Commission, and Paolo Garzotti, Head of Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean and Chief Negotiator for Mercosur at DG TRADE. The discussion will be moderated by Tindaro Paganini, Director of the ICE Office in Brussels.
