Potenza – Building a “bridge” between Basilicata and the United States focused on high technology, aerospace, energy and territorial promotion. This was the aim of the meeting held on January 27 in Potenza between the President of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi, and the US Consul General in Naples, Terrence Flynn.
“We shared an ambitious vision,” Bardi said, “one that sees Basilicata not only as a land of traditions, but as an outpost of aerospace innovation.” Bardi, who also serves as Vice President of Nereus, the network of European regions active in the aerospace sector, highlighted the strength of the regional industrial cluster, already engaged with major global players.
“Thanks to cutting-edge research infrastructure and a highly specialised business ecosystem, Basilicata is ready to intensify cooperation with the United States,” the Governor added. “We want the region to become a natural partner for future missions and technologies in Earth observation and space exploration, fields where transatlantic cooperation has always been a driver of progress.”
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to promote new commercial missions and scientific exchanges. Tourism was also discussed, with particular attention to “roots tourism.” “Thousands of Americans have Basilicata origins,” Bardi noted. “Our goal is to strengthen return tourism, turning historical memory into a driver of economic growth and contemporary cultural exchange.” (9colonne)
