Munich – To mark the centenary of Dario Fo’s birth, the Italian Cultural Institute in Munich is hosting a screening of Dario Fo: l’ultimo Mistero buffo on 10 February at 7 pm. The documentary, directed by Gianluca Rame, opens with the image of Dario Fo, now in his nineties, preparing to step on stage for the final time. Memories of an extraordinary life crowd his mind, along with one figure above all others: Franca Rame, his lifelong partner on stage and in life. The elderly actor rises and slowly makes his way from the dressing room to the wings, and after a brief moment of hesitation steps onto the stage with one of his signature works, Mistero buffo, a revolutionary piece that was censored at its debut. Fo’s theatre becomes a space for reflection on the human condition and the distortions of power, transcending linguistic, geographical and cultural boundaries. (9colonne)
