London – More than five years have passed since the United Kingdom left the European Union, bringing an end to freedom of movement. The EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) has since protected the rights of millions of EU citizens and their family members living in the country, granting either pre-settled or settled status.
Over the years, rules, procedures and travel requirements have continued to evolve. Issues such as settled and pre-settled status, automatic conversions, extensions, status revocations, family reunification, late applications and the registration of newborn children still raise practical questions for many residents.
To address these concerns, the three Comites in the United Kingdom - London, Manchester, Scotland and Northern Ireland - are organising a new information session in collaboration with the charity Settled, continuing a series of events held over the past five years.
The webinar, scheduled for 18 February at 6 pm (London time), will focus on the key aspects of the EUSS and the latest updates, including requirements and timelines for obtaining settled status, automatic conversions, pre-settled status extensions, potential issues and grounds for revocation. Family-related matters will also be discussed, with a particular focus on registering newborns and family reunification, as well as late applications.
A dedicated section will cover travel and border checks, including the ETA, eVisa, dual citizenship and changes coming into force from 25 February. Practical guidance will be provided on the documents required to travel to the UK depending on individual circumstances. The webinar will be streamed live on the Facebook and YouTube channels of the Comites of London.
