The Comites of Madrid will take part in the eighth edition of Zinecittà, the Italian Film Festival of Bilbao, scheduled from 23 to 28 February. The participation marks a key milestone in the project Comites Madrid on the Road, aimed at strengthening connections with Italian communities across different regions of Spain.

The highlight of Comites’ involvement will take place on Tuesday, 24 February, with the screening of the documentary Under New Skies: Stories of Italian Women in Spain. Produced by the Comites of Madrid, the film explores the challenges, achievements and personal journeys of Italian women who have chosen Spain as their new home. The event will feature the participation of Comites President Andrea Lazzari and Councillor Gabriella Lanzilli.

Zinecittà 2026 is the result of close cooperation between the Italian Consulate General in Madrid, the Comites of Madrid, the Liguria Region and leading Basque institutions. Festival president Antonella Mele—recipient of the Comites Award for Italian Identity in 2024—embodies the festival’s mission to use cinema as a bridge between cultures, linking Euskadi and Liguria, the festival’s focus region this year.
