June 11 - Born in Bari in 1978, he is known for his great love for jazz and his passion for the piano: Kekko Fornarelli is one of the most popular Italian jazz artists. And he is bringing his music on a world tour, touching Russia, Europe, Asia and Australia, for a total of more than 150 dates in 2 years. Pianist and composer, Fornarelli distinguishes himself thanks to his unique and appealing chemistry that combines in a refined balance a variety of sound elements with contaminations and visions. Francesco Fornarelli - better known as Kekko - will perform today in Shenzhen, China, before heading to Malaysia tomorrow and spending the next few days in Jakarta, Indonesia. The musician boasts prestigious collaborations with international jazz artists, such Rosario Giuliani, Flavio Boltro Michel Benita and Francesco Bearzatt. The Kekko Fornarelli Trio, an ensemble with Kekko on piano and synth, Giorgio Vendola at the bass and Dario Congedo on drums and percussion, was recently placed among the ten best Italian teams during the 2012 Jazzit Awards. Fornarelli’s international tour was made possible thanks to the support of Puglia Sounds Export.
THE KEKKO FORNARELLI TRIO
The Kekko Fornarelli Trio is the flagship project of the pianist and composer from Bari: three virtuosos of Italian jazz (Kekko Fornarelli, piano & synth, Giorgio Vendola, bass, and Dario Congedo, drums and percussion) come together for an unusual interpretation of classic jazz bands, bringing to life Fornarelli’s idea of universal music. The last album, released in May 2011, Room of Mirrors (Auand) has had a notable success with both critics and the public, with three physical reprints for about 2500 copies sold and over 2000 downloads from the web. Now, Fornarelli is at work on a new album.
