Montevideo – Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi has concluded her growth diplomacy mission in Uruguay. In 2024, trade between Italy and Uruguay reached €776 million, and in the first eleven months of 2025, Italian exports recorded significant growth, confirming the dynamism of the bilateral economic relationship. In Montevideo, Tripodi chaired a roundtable with representatives from Uruguay’s key public and private economic sectors and a select delegation of Italian entrepreneurs. During the event, she presented the “Guide to Opportunities for Italian Companies – 2026 Edition.” She then held a series of bilateral meetings with Uruguay’s Minister of Education and Culture José Carlos Mahia, Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, and Economy Minister Gabriel Oddone. Discussions focused on strengthening cultural relations, areas of scientific research, major international policy issues, trade, investment, and enhanced economic cooperation facilitated by the EU-Mercosur agreement.
