Melbourne – From May 8th to 17th, Cinema Reborn returns to Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn, Melbourne, an event born from the idea of a community of film lovers, programmers, directors, film historians, and critics. The festival aims to bring restored film classics back to the big screen, celebrating the art of cinema through history. The event also highlights the importance of cinematic heritage and the preservation of hidden treasures of world cinema. In collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Melbourne, this year Cinema Reborn will screen “White Nights,” an adaptation of a short story by Fyodor Dostoevsky by the Italian master and director Luchino Visconti, in a 4K restoration marking the film’s Australian premiere.
