Chicago – Pianist and composer Francesco Cavestri, considered one of the most promising voices of the new generation of Italian and European jazz musicians, will perform a solo piano concert on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fulton Street Collective in Chicago.
Alone at the piano, Cavestri creates a direct dialogue with the audience, exploring musical landscapes that combine jazz lyricism, contemporary experimentation, and emotional storytelling. A Steinway Artist, his musical journey is shaped by unexpected encounters between jazz and other genres, including hip hop, film music, and art rock. Fragments of John Coltrane intertwine with the sonic architectures of Radiohead, while the electronic textures of Massive Attack find new acoustic resonance. His surprising fusion of Everything in Its Right Place and Naima guides listeners through distant musical worlds brought together through his interpretation.
A particularly meaningful moment in the Chicago concert, organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, will be Cavestri’s tribute to legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, who was born in Chicago, and to Miles Davis, also born in Illinois, whose birth centenary will be celebrated in 2026.
Alongside these tributes, Cavestri will present original compositions that reveal their most intimate and essential character in the solo piano format, including preview performances of tracks from his new album Noè (Universal Music Italia).
