Edinburgh – Italian Clapperboard is the title of a programme dedicated to contemporary Italian documentary cinema organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Edinburgh at its headquarters. Through themes ranging from climate activism and environmental change to migration, memory, identity and tradition, the series offers audiences an insightful look into the social, cultural and political dynamics shaping contemporary Italy. Each documentary brings a distinct voice and perspective, weaving together personal narratives with broader historical and global contexts. The next screening will take place on May 28 at 5:30 p.m. and will feature Breath (2025), directed by Ilaria Congiu. The documentary is an intimate and emotionally charged exploration of climate change, pollution and industrial fishing, seen through the eyes of those who have witnessed the sea and its ecosystem undergo profound transformation.
