University of Teramo strengthens academic ties with Slovakia

The University of Teramo is expanding its international reach through a new partnership initiative in Slovakia. Rector Christian Corsi traveled to Bratislava on June 10 and 11 for a series of institutional meetings aimed at strengthening academic and scientific cooperation with one of Central Europe’s emerging education and research hubs.
During the visit, Corsi met officials from Slovakia’s Ministry of Education and Research, including Marcel Vysocký, Secretary General for Higher Education, Internationalization and Quality, and Denis Nedelka, Director of the Department for the Internationalization of Higher Education. Discussions focused on developing joint research projects and expanding mobility opportunities for students and faculty members between Italian and Slovak universities.
The mission also included a visit to the bilingual Italian-Slovak section of the Sáru High School in Bratislava, one of the country’s earliest bilingual programs, established in 1991. There, Corsi met with teachers and students and proposed future cultural exchanges with the city of Teramo, as well as the possibility of hosting students in dedicated summer school programs designed to introduce them to the university’s academic offerings and campus facilities.
A key objective of the trip was to lay the groundwork for high-level scientific collaboration with two of Slovakia’s leading universities. At Comenius University, the country’s most prestigious higher education institution, discussions resulted in an agreement to pursue a memorandum of understanding focused on academic mobility and joint research activities.
Corsi also visited the Slovak University of Technology, where he toured research facilities specializing in biotechnology, food science and chemical technology. The visit provided an opportunity to explore potential collaborations in areas of strategic importance for both institutions.
Reflecting on the mission, Corsi described Slovakia as a rapidly evolving academic environment with strong potential for innovation-driven partnerships. He emphasized that expanding international alliances creates new opportunities for researchers and students while helping attract talent, expertise and international projects to the city of Teramo and its university community.
