Chicago – The Sacred Voices choir, representing the Cardinal Bartolucci Foundation, is set to launch its Illinois tour on June 18, with stops scheduled in Northbrook, Chicago, Naperville, and Des Plaines. Direct from Rome, 40 musicians from Roman and Vatican choirs will bring the timeless tradition of Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony to the stage, music that has echoed for centuries within the walls of the Vatican.
Rooted in the historic Roman School of sacred music, the repertoire celebrates the beauty, spirituality, and artistic heritage of the Catholic Church and the great composers of the Sistine Chapel Choir. Under the direction of Pontifical Cantor Adriano Caroletti, the choir will be accompanied by Josep Solè Coll, the main organist for the Pope and St. Peter's Basilica. The performance lineup is highly diverse, focusing primarily on masterpieces by Sistine Chapel Choir composers such as Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Lorenzo Perosi, and Domenico Bartolucci. Running until June 21, the tour is organized by the Cardinal Domenico Bartolucci Foundation in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Chicago. (9colonne)
