Sydney – The Democratic Party Circle (Circolo del Partito Democratico) of Sydney is hosting a free public screening of the film Berlinguer. La grande ambizione on Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 PM. The event will take place at the Addi Road Community Centre (142 Addison Road, Marrickville), as announced in an official press release.
Directed by Andrea Segre, the film explores the life of Enrico Berlinguer between 1973 and 1978, detailing his ambitious drive to lead the Italian Communist Party (PCI) into government through democratic means amid the complex international political landscape of the Cold War.
According to the organizers, the screening offers an opportunity to reflect on Berlinguer’s political legacy and the enduring relevance of key themes from his career, including peace, unity, and political action as a force for societal change. Senator Francesco Giacobbe, representing the Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Antarctica division of the Overseas Constituency, will be in attendance.
Admission is free and open to the public with prior registration. The organizers expressed their gratitude to FILEF Sydney for helping make the event possible as part of its Cinema Resistenza film series.
