Copenhagen – Marta Giacomello, a researcher at the Department of Biology at the University of Padua, has been awarded an Open Competition Grant worth €650,000 from the LEO Foundation in Copenhagen, Denmark. The grant will support her study of a previously unexamined cellular mechanism in melanocytes, the skin cells responsible for producing melanin. Giacomello now joins an elite group of international researchers who have secured three competitive grants from the LEO Foundation, an achievement that underscores the high standard of her work and reinforces the University of Padua’s position as a global leader in dermatology and skin biology research.
