Dakar – The Italian Cultural Institute in Dakar is taking part in a new edition of Italian Screens as part of Fare Cinema 2026, the international initiative dedicated to promoting Italian filmmaking and the many professions behind the film industry. From June 25 to July 30, Dakar’s Pathé Cinema will host six exclusive screenings showcasing the diversity, creativity and innovation of contemporary Italian cinema. The program opens on June 25 with La Grazia by Paolo Sorrentino, followed by Un anno di scuola by Laura Samani on July 2, La città proibita by Gabriele Mainetti on July 9, Testa o croce? by Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis on July 16, Duse by Pietro Marcello on July 23 and Gioia mia by Margherita Spampinato on July 30. The screenings form part of a broader effort to strengthen the international visibility of Italian cinema and introduce global audiences to a new generation of filmmakers alongside some of the country's most established directors. Through a wide range of genres, styles and narratives, the initiative offers Senegalese audiences a window into the contemporary Italian cultural landscape. (9colonne)
