San Paolo – Bruna Bianco, a Brazilian poet and lawyer of Asti origins, visited the headquarters of the “Lucchesi nel Mondo” association on Saturday, August 22. She was welcomed by president Ilaria Del Bianco, board member Bruno Micheletti and Umberto Sereni. Together, they visited the memorial plaque dedicated to Giuseppe Ungaretti, installed in 2022 in the loggia of the Carrara Courtyard at Palazzo Ducale on the initiative of Lucchesi nel Mondo, as part of commemorations marking the centenary of the First World War. Giuseppe Ungaretti and Bruna Bianco met in São Paulo, Brazil, in September 1966, and their love affair lasted until the spring of 1969. Their passionate relationship is documented by more than 300 letters, which Bianco decided to deposit with the Arnoldo and Alberto Mondadori Foundation in 2015. The poet's last muse, Bianco was accompanied by Paolo Linetti, a historian of Japanese art, scholar of 16th- and 17th-century Lombard art, and expert in iconography and symbolism. Linetti has worked on several initiatives in Lucca and first met Bianco through a collection of Chinese prints that had been given to her by Ungaretti. She was also accompanied by Tiziana Tassinari, director of the Neurology Department at Pietra Ligure Hospital. The visit finally gave Bruna Bianco the opportunity to discover Lucca, the city on the banks of the Serchio, one of the rivers celebrated in Ungaretti's poetry. (9colonne)
